Persica Roses are a new race of roses derived from Rosa persica a native of Iran and Afghanistan. This thin, prickly shrub is considered a weed of cultivated land and is collected as firewood. Its one unique feature is a dark central blotch on its golden yellow flowers and it has been the Holy Grail of rose breeders for the last 40 years to somehow transmit this feature into a modern healthy repeat flowering cultivar. That work is coming to fruition and some exciting, excellent new hybrids are now coming onto the market.
